Flying Legally in Scotland: A Practical Primer

Flying Legally in Scotland: A Practical Primer

Scotland follows the UK CAA framework. If your drone is over 250g, you need an Operator ID. Period.

For commercial work, you'll want at least A2 CofC. For most landscape work I fly under A1/A3 rules — keep away from uninvolved people, stay below 120m AGL, and never overfly built-up areas.

The quiet rule nobody writes down: do not fly near livestock. A frightened ewe is a story you don't want to be in.
